Staying fit can and should take into account so many things.
If you can work on 1 thing at a time, tip number 5 may have already fallen into place.
Regular exercise, if you are just starting out, I recommend you start out by keeping it simple. This will help prepare you mentally and physically and you are more likely to stay on track and less likely to fall off the wagon. So start with daily 10 minute walks increasing your distance and time slowly every second day. Making slow increments to your new regime will also allow your body to adapt to its new routine. After 2 weeks of this try adding one 20 minute home or gym workout to your regime. This will mean removing one walking day and replacing it with the 20 minute workout. Checkout our list of home and gym workouts on our Squad Sisters YouTube Channel. Before you know it 4 weeks have passed and you are ready to amp it up a little bit more. Here are a few ways you can do that.
If you have done regular exercise before but fallen off the wagon and are now ready to start again. I recommend doing a quick reflection on what worked the last time and what didn’t. Go over the reasons why you stopped exercising and put into place ‘stoppers’ to help you stay on track. Now it’s time to get cracking. First decide what is your number one goal, this is non-negotiable. This goal is realistic and achievable for you right now. It could be as simple as running 5kms without stopping in 5weeks or you may want to enter a triathlon event, or just simply get out and about and socialise. Once this has been decided then you know what you’re aiming towards and what kind of training you want to be doing.
5km Run
You would look at starting with small distant jogs, small interval running, and strength training
Triathlon
One run day, one swim day, one bike day and one strength day.
Socialising
Join a group fitness class or group. Run club, gym group fitness classes, online group fitness classes
The ability to get fit or stay fit is so possible and doable if you know what you want to do, what you like to do, where you want to go and how important it is to you anything becomes possible.
